Next week marks the beginning of National Heritage week and we are delighted to unveil our schedule of events in the blog post.
Sunday Aug 24th National Heritage Week. Romance, Reminiscences & Rare Mushrooms Glenfarne, Co. Leitrim Hear the history of the Ballroom of Romance and Glenfarne Railway station. Forage through Glenfarne demesne for mushrooms such as charcoal burner, orange milkcap and maybe even a chanterelle or two. Enjoy the fabulous views on this lakeside forest trek and some of the artwork on McNean sculpture trail
Duration 4 hours and not strenuous. Cost €25 adults, children half price.
Tues Aug 26Heritage Week, History Through the Windows, Rossinver, Co. Leitrim
Visit the magnificent Ballagh Centre, Rossinver, hear the history of this former Church of Ireland building. Joel, the centre manager will share the history of Rossinver with you and explain the story told in the wonderful stain glass windows of the centre. Join Leitrim Landscapes Guided Walks for 1.5 hour stroll on the beautiful Fowley’s Falls. Discover the flora and fauna of the area and maybe pick up a tasty forest mushroom or two. Talk 4-5, walk 5-6.30.

Friday Aug 29th Celebrate National Heritage Week
This is a lovely evening nature ramble to Lurganboy Forest. Enjoy this woodland walk while hearing all about our natural heritage. Easy walk 1.5 hours duration. This event is Free
Sep 7th Fun Fungus Forage at Fowley’s Falls, Rossinver, Co. Leitrim
Join Leitrim Landscapes foraging queen Tina for a mushroom forage along the Glenaniff River in Rossinver.’s Fowleys Falls Indulge your hunting skills and enjoy the extraordinary waterfalls in this limestone valley as you forage for edibles and enjoy nature. Amongst the hazel and conifer forest you will discover mushrooms such as birch bolete and orange milkcap. Spot the insect inhabitants of the forest floor including the fungus gnat who’ll be on the same mission as you! We’ll give you a cooking tip too! 2-6 pm

Sunday Oct 5th Fund-raising Fun walk for Peru
Leitrim Landscapes Guided Walks guides will bring you on a wonderful walk on one of our favourite locations. There is no charge but we’d like you to donate to a women’s & children’s charity that we love near Lima Peru that a friend of ours runs. Walk will be approx 2 hours. We’ll let you know the walk location nearer the time. There will also be an option to do a hil lwalk on the day, approx 5 hours duration. Complimentary refreshments served afterwards.
